The overhead crane was used to move heavy parts and materials around the machine room during the repair and dismantling of equipment. Sitting in the cabin, the crane operator would move his car back and forth along the rails laid under the roof and lower the crane’s hook to the right point, after which the sling-worker would secure the loads. Such a system was in operation at the power station from the moment of its construction, but the surviving crane and cab date from the late-Soviet period. They have been carefully restored, but no longer move.
