Tino Sehgal. Learning Programme

1 Aug–14 Sep 2017
New Tretyakov Gallery

Dances in the museum and conversations around gender, politics and visual art.

The learning programme V–A–C Live: Tino Sehgal curated/developed by Rio Rutzinger, the art director of the Europe’s largest festival of dance and performative art ImPulsTanz Vienna, is comprised of workshops and discussions led by Russian and international artists. On the one hand, it addresses the language of movement and sound that Tino uses in his works; on the other hand, he touches upon such topics as art and economics, humans and nature, and social constructs. On a weekly basis, the audience take part in conversations about visual art and dance, learn how geography, gender and politics are included in the art space, and is given a chance to dance in the museum.

Among the participating artists are Claudia Bosse (Austria/Germany), Katya Ganyushina (Russia), Keith Hennessy (USA/Canada), Jennifer Lacey (France/USA), Pavel Mitenko (Russia), Sasha Pirogova (Russia), Mårten Spångberg (Sweden), Ivo Dimchev (Bulgaria), Louise Trueheart (Germany/ USA) and others.

Conversations and lectures of the V–A–C Live: Tino Sehgal educational programme take place at the New Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val and at the workshops at the Solyanka State Gallery.
